Bringing the Ocean’s Magic to Vaya Yoga Studio
When Marie, the owner of Vaya Yoga Studio, first saw my surf art, she was drawn to my style — describing it as waves, magic dust and glitter from the universe. Inspired by this, she invited me to showcase my work in her studio and also commissioned a larger centrepiece that would complement the space.
She wanted a piece that resonated with the studio’s atmosphere — soothing, calming, and deeply connected to the ocean. Since she offers surf yoga on SWAVE balance boards and her studio is located in Ferrel, Peniche (known as Portugal’s Wave Capital), it felt natural to create a painting that captured the essence of surfing.
I took on the challenge and painted rolling "lines" of waves, leading to a perfect A-frame wave breaking at the bottom. Using turquoise, green, beige, and terracotta hues, I blended the colors to harmonize with her existing space. To enhance the depth and add a touch of the mystical, I layered soft fog and distant stars over the waves, creating a dreamlike horizon.
My Intentions for This Painting
✨ A Surfscape for Tranquility
A piece that evokes calm and presence, inviting connection with higher realms.
✨ A Supporting Energy for Yoga Practice
Enhancing the space where yogis flow, breathe, and find balance.
✨ A Gathering Point for the Community
A painting that enriches the energy of post-class tea rituals and special events.
Creating this piece challenged me to work on a larger scale than usual and refine the color balance, but I’m grateful for the opportunity. I intend for this painting to bring the supportive and magical energy of the ocean to everyone who steps into the studio.
